A GOD AMONG ANTS
We come into the ring at a Divine Wrestling house show. The fans in the crowd are going wild as the gold and blue lights dim down as we pan down over the metallic floor up to the apron and then brush over up on the cavas to see Michael Rissi inside, standing in the center. The fans are going wild and Rissi stands triumphantly dressed in a white Rissi Brand tank top and black pants. He brings a mic to his lips as he waits for the rapturous and ecstatic fans to stop cheering.
Michael Rissi: Well… Here I am! HERE I AM! After having to beat up Claude Vigor and Kuttah for three straight shows – I’m finally free, finally FREE of that trash and I’m actually getting an opportunity to do something of worth here in Divine Wrestling. The opportunity that I’m being given is a shot at the Divine Wresting World Championship and the title of Champion of Wresting. It doesn’t come easy though, see Tiger isn’t just handing me a title match like he did to Kieran Overton or Zoe McDraven, no, I’ll have to compete in a tournament with 3 wrestlers to try and get into this Championship Scramble match at the next event.
Michael motions with three fingers up to the cheering fans as he takes a moment to face around to the entire crowd. His tone switches up to a more elevating and affirmative voice. His tone is quite confident and almost inviting and amused while his expression is laid back and entertained. He slowly brings the mic back to his face with a smile.
Michael Rissi: Honestly it’s quite exciting and I’m more grateful than spiteful that I’m being put in this tournament rather than just being handed a shot at Blaise even thought I probably deserve it seeing as I’m the only one who’s been here from the beginning an has won every single one of my matches… but I like to prove myself and I don’t like handouts unlike some people… That being said, this tournament is looking to be quite the competition. It’s going to be Kai Stevens fighting Mr. Katz while Miles Taylor takes me on in the first round. The winner of these two matches will move on to the final round next week which will serve as the decider for who gets into the scramble out of the 4 of us.
Rissi lets out a laugh and motions with his hands, gesturing that the opponents he mentioned are no big deal. Rissi shakes his head with a smirk and stands up tall back in the center of the ring.
Michael Rissi: My opponent this week… none other than Miles Taylor, an individual who started off well and impressed in his first match on Saga but has degenerated since then. It’s very unfortunate that Miles Taylor has sunk as a competitor because I thought the guy had some potential but clearly I was wrong. Sure he was brash and arrogant and even rude but I saw him rush in and win his first match on episode 1 so I thought he’d at least have some impressive qualities about him but I was wrong because I remembered that he beat a couple of nobodies… If Miles Taylor isn’t fighting a scrub then don’t expect him to win because he’s shown the past 3 months that he doesn’t have what it takes to wrestle a decent match nor wrestle with the elite – in fact, I don’t think Miles Taylor belongs in this tournament at all. He’s clearly not championship material and the guy can’t buy a match so please explain why he’s in the running to possibly enter the scramble while others like Joanna and Zoe don’t have the same opportunity when they’ve been 10 times as impressive.
Rissi unhurriedly saunters to the corner where he brushes his hands over the gold lustrous ring ropes as he walks them up in silence with the mic still close to his smirking lips.
Michael Rissi: But… that’s all good, I don’t book the matches here, that’s up to Tiger and his management and if I’ve learned anything by now it’s that Tiger has a very unique way of doing things here. I like this whole tournament thing but let me just pick it apart for all you guys watching here tonight then I can go into verbally murdering everyone involved into this whole situation…
As Rissi promenades from the ring ropes back slowly into the center of the ring, he waits for the fans to start to quiet down, lightly brushing his boot over the coarse white canvas, looking back up at the frame with bright eyes.
Michael Rissi: So at Seasons Bleedings I go in and DESTROY Claude Vigor and Mr. Katz with my wife by my side. Misty Vega comes in to help out my wife and I don’t know what the heck that whole situation is, frankly it brings back bad memories but I’ll leave that up to my wife to handle. Regardless, I own Claude and Mr. Katz and I even get to beat up Kuttah again. Claude for the third show in a ROW gets beat and embarrassed by me. Claude Vigor proves to be pathetic and despondent as an opponent against me in all of our meetings while I prove my transcendent ability and aptitude and power that has gone unmatched even against this so called ‘monster.’ Claude Vigor bit off far more than he could chew and this ‘monster’ met divinity and while he was outclassed, embarrassed and beat up, I still showed him mercy… I can’t say I’m going to do the same when it comes to this tournament though…
The fans are outrageous with cheers and Rissi nods along with them in agreement. He looks out, the emotive appeal in his face switching to a prominent and supercilious sentiment on his face. He takes in all of the cheers as the fan favourite begins to address once again.
Michael Rissi: Now, I’ll get to this tournament in a second but let me just finish my recap here because it’s important. Blaise would then go and defend her World Championship against Zoe McDraven. Blaise went in as the favourite, everyone thought she was going to win it easy, she thought she was going to win it easy but NO! Zoe McDraven came up and showed Blaise that it’s not going to be as easy as it was! Zoe makes Blaise pay for her overconfidence but not only that, Blaise gets shocked and she gets showed up and that’s great because someone like Blaise needs that, someone like Blaise needs to be embarrassed and taken down a few pegs… Back in times of old, back in EHWF Blaise would have been expected to steamroll over Zoe McDraven as she’s done many times before but that wasn’t the case at Seasons Bleedings. Either Zoe’s gotten so much better or Blaise has gotten so much shitter or BOTH because what I saw was Zoe bring the fight right up to a shocked Blaise and almost win the World Championship in her first match! Zoe McDraven is without a doubt incredible and she proved that at Seasons Bleedings but what’s happened to Blaise? What’s happened to the champ?
Rissi asks the question and the fans are mixed to begin with as he looks right down the frame, right into the soul of the addressed and smirks barbarously with a flicker in his eye and an aura of confidence around him. Rissi scratches his beard as the fans get back behind him.
Michael Rissi: Perhaps Blaise needs to focus on actually proving herself and not just relying on what she was or talking the shit that spills out of her over confident and egotistical mouth? I know she was the best of all time but with her attitude and her conceited outlook on everything combined with some of the shit I’ve heard her say since she’s been in Divine; maybe she needs to just focus on herself, focus on being something, focus on proving something and focus on getting back to what she USED TO BE because if she can’t do these things, she’s going to end up just like those pieces of SHIT from where we used to be – in the middle of bumfuck nowhere, wrestling for fuck all in front of a handful of fans, fighting for cheap gold that no one cares about in a place that no one knows or gives a shit about! Blaise says she’s the best, she’s the smartest and she’s better than everyone else and part of me still agrees with that but the rest of me says prove it! Prove it to me, to the fans and yourself because all I’ve seen her do is win the World Championship in a scrappy 4 way match by the skin of her teeth and beat up a delusional lackluster rookie… When it came time for an actual challenge and a title defence, where was that prevailing and powerful Blaise? If I were Blaise, I’d focus on working on herself first before dribbling out more denigrations and criticisms that just make her look stupid and scared. She needs to prove that she can hang here because as far as I’m concerned, she hasn’t done that yet, regardless of if she’s the champ or not! Above all else though, if I were Blaise I’d be praying for a miracle to happen for me not to win this tournament because if I’m in that scramble match, there is NO WAY she’s walking out the World Champion and she knows it.
The cheers build and Rissi sways the mixed crowd. He begins to pace up the ring again while he starts to talk, getting to one end then continuing down the other and so forth.
Michael Rissi: Well that puts away the “Champ” for now lets get to one of the other members of the tournament this week; Kai Stevens. Kai Stevens has impressed so far and he’s done a number of good things in the ring but to call him amazing, to call him championship material is nonsensical and ridiculous. I know that some of you fans out there tonight enjoy watching Kai Stevens fight in the ring but who has he fought? Michael Maddox? Michael Maddox fought him to a draw in his first match here… Michael Maddox isn’t a great competitor by any stretch of the imagination and Kai Stevens couldn’t put him away in that opening contest on episode 1… What does that say about Kai Stevens? Sure he beat Miles Taylor for the Pure Championship but Miles Taylor is a glorified rookie – there is no reason to boast for defeating someone as dismal and untalented as Miles Taylor. I will admit that you did do good at Seasons Bleedings when you brutally beat the shit out of Maddox and put him out of action but still, that’s like beating up a child… Kai, you’re delusional, you think you’re more than you are and you talk a lot of shit and shit talking can only get you so far – just ask Blaise!
The fans let out an “OOOOOOHHH” as Rissi folds one arm under the other, still holding the mic to his face. Rissi laughs, the wind up in his voice present as all the fans are either cheering or talking. Rissi can’t help but chuckle and shake his head, darting his eyes back to the canvas with a tranquil glance.
Michael Rissi: Now, Mr. Katz, The Hardcore Champion – the unexpected little coward who won a championship by rolling someone up from behind after waiting out the whole match and hiding… One minute Katz is cowering behind me and the next minute he’s taking smack about me… I don’t know how to take him, not seriously I guess because lets be honest, Mr. Katz is just a joke. That’s all Mr. Katz is, a stupid fucking joke, a coward, the comedy relief who we all know has no chance of winning a single match in this tournament. Last week when I fought Katz, I dominated him, I beat him up and I hurt him – My wife hurt him, my wife beat him up. I don’t know what to say about Mr. Katz because he’s just so ridiculous. A face painted weirdo who’s scared of fighting and who speaks like a fucking chump; yeah, that’s real World Champion material right there… Give me a break.
Rissi snickers into the mic as the fans laugh along. Rissi rolls his eyes and frowns in disgust before looking back up to the camera. He turns his authoritive body around and faces the majority of fans in the crowd again.
Michael Rissi: Now, now, hold up… I’m not done yet, I’m almost done but not quite… I still have to finish off Miles Taylor. Miles Taylor – the man who seemingly everyone forgot up until now. The man loses against Kai Stevens then he goes into Seasons Bleedings and gets whipped by Rory Hazlow and loses another big match! Miles Taylor is someone whom everyone, even management and the fans had such high hopes for but in the end just turned out to be a weak, untalented flop! If a skinny little inferior punk like Kai Stevens can beat you, you should quit Divine right here and now and go work for some other shithole because you don’t belong amongst all stars or standouts. If a clown-ass weirdo like Kuttah can smack you around like he did on the Christmas Tree then you don’t deserve to grace the same ring as anyone on this roster nor do you deserve to be called the Champion of Wrestling and hold the Divine World Championship! Miles Taylor, there isn’t much I can say about you because there isn’t much too you other than the fact that you’re a fragile, weak little scrub who couldn’t lace my boots. It’s going to be such on honour for someone like you to be in the ring against someone like me but I promise, the stars-struck, awe-struck feeling won’t last long when you come up against me because I will knock you out and I will embarrass you and every single word you’re going to come out with I will shove down your throat and make you cry before I defeat you and go on to make either Kai or Katz my bitch the following week.
Rissi leans his gigantic arms over on the ropes and looks out at the cheering fans. He waits for a while, relaxing on the ropes with a tired smirk. The fans get pretty loud and Rissi nods along with them.
Michael Rissi: So… Blaise is full of it. Kai Stevens is a pissbag, Mr. Katz is a pussy, err… no pun intended there and Miles Taylor is a weakling. You could take all of the people in the tournament aside from me out of this contest and replace them with Joanna, Zoe and Ace Pena and it would make for a much more exciting battle. The way it is now, I wouldn’t want to watch Kai, Katz or Miles in the ring even if I was getting paid to do so. They bore me, they bore the fans and they can’t fight their way out of a paper bag. I’m going to have to make them and this tournament look really good because that’s what I do – I make every match look amazing. Come to think of it and I never thought I’d have to say this but given her recent ‘decline’ I’ll probably have to make Blaise look good and exciting as well when I beat her in the championship scramble and take the World Championship.
Rissi stands up from the ropes and nods along with the words that just left his mouth. He slumps his arms down, done and relaxed and grins from ear to ear – holding the mic with one hand and caressing his beard with the other.
Michael Rissi: That’s not the point of focus right now though. My aim this week is Miles Taylor and how bad I’m going to beat the shit out of him. I know he’s unimpressive, has no ability and is frail in the ring as a wrestler but I don’t underestimate anyone and as a result that just means an even worse ass kicking for Miles Taylor. I’ll beat him and move onto the next round and that’s all I’m thinking about right now. After this people will just continue to forget the pathetic Miles Taylor whereas with me, I am the topic of conversation – I’ve said it many times before! Whether it’s in Divine or some shithole, my name or my last name or something to do with me is always being mentioned or brought up by people I don’t even know or people that I’ve already forgotten! Miles, I’m very sorry that you’ll never get to know that feeling but you can at least take solace and consolation in the fact that you’re going to be defeated by greatness and for you, this is an honour!
Rissi takes a buoyant bow in the center of the ring before he spikes the microphone down on the canvas and it ends up in the crowd somewhere! The fans go NUTS as Rissi’s music hits and he slides of the ring. Rissi looks from side to side at the bottom of the ramp and gives one final gratified chortle from his face. Before performing some theatrics and flexing at the bottom of the ramp to the screaming fans, he slaps their hands back up the ramp and takes his leave off the stage, his words not only resonating with the fans but also still with him and more importantly those he just orally and mentally decimated. The extremely loud cheers are the last sound we hear as we fade.
