The titantron live broadcasts Mr Katz, wearing a white hoodie and his gold cross over his neck, in the hallway of the Royal Farms Arena with a female interviewer. A purple banner at the bottom of the screen reads ”HARDCORE CHAMPION” as a fatigued looking Mr Katz starts to speak in his British accent.
Interviewer: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest Mr Katz.
A few people in the arena start to chant “You can’t wrestle!” which the microphone pick up from the hallway.
Interviewer: You are have been Hardcore Champion for over forty days but you take on your biggest challenge yet in Kai Stevens. Your popularity has exploded since your debut but you are controversial for the way you won the Hardcore Championship. Why does this match matter to you in cementing yourself as a true champion.
The interviewer raises the mic to Katz as The Hardcore Champion thinks about it for a second.
Mr Katz: This match matters to me because a lot of people have been doubting me. You probably doubt me! I don’t appreciate being doubted, I’m not what you expect from a champion because I am unexpected. I am The Unexpected Best Champion and the only thing you can expect from me is an entertaining match. Everyone knows that SAGA stands for Super Awesome Guitar Action. Everyone should be excited for my match with Kai Stevens. I am excited for my next match Kai Stevens IS going to challenge me. Brian Church claims Kai is going to teach me the words “hardcore” and “champion” but I bring new meaning to those words.
Interviewer: Kai Stevens certainly is a challenge, you have been in gym and watching tape but do you think you can beat him and if so why?
Mr Katz: People have been asking me why I think I can beat Kai Stevens, they think my delusions of grandeur are going to bite me in my ass. I don’t think I’m delusional, just hopeful! Want to know why I think I can beat Kai Stevens? It’s simple really, I have will-power and it allows me to do superhuman things. Training my body and watching tape is going to help but the key difference maker is spirit. I can beat Kai Stevens because my will-power makes me refuse to lose. My will-power will make me get up and I will get up until Kai Stevens flat-out give up. Kai can break every bone in my body but he will never break my spirit. Kai will have to drain me of my blood and choke me out of oxygen but I swear that STILL WON'T BE ENOUGH!
Not giving up despite the odds is what makes a champion, not the title. Breaking bones is hardcore but getting up from a match bleeding and broken is also hardcore. I can’t break Kai’s bones but I can break his spirit, I can make him tap out. I can make Kai Stevens take the coward’s way out of a match. I'm going to use every pint of blood, every breath in my lungs, and my whole body to make Kai give up. I'm calling it now, I might be Ronald McDonald now but Kai will be the clown after this tournament is over. The cameras are going to be recording Kai Stevens in the middle of the ring tapping to ME! If people can't respect me as champion, respect my self belief to win. People doubt me but I know what I’m doing.
Interviewer: You say you know what you are doing but in the past things seem to be out of your control. Your issues with Vigor must be exhausting, what if Vigor seeks to help out Kai Stevens against you?
Mr Katz: Will-power allows me to run away from Vigor faster than a speeding bullet, Kai is going to develop my body and mind for Vigor as I said before.
Interviewer: Speaking of running away, Brian Church claims you tainted the Hardcore Championship. Brian Church claims you are going to be purged from the industry, this is probably because of your tendency to run away. Any comment on that?
Mr Katz silently sighs with a smile on his painted face, clearly not disturbed by Church’s claims.
Mr Katz: Well Mr Church, I don't know what you're saying but you sound very sure of it. I don’t claim things, I just do them. I’m tired of the monster of the week format where every week another big, bad monster tells me they are going to wipe me off the face of the Earth. I’m still here when nobody thought I would survive day one. Mr Church did get one thing right, I am a journeyman who defies the odds.
Interviewer: Well your odds of colliding with Vigor and Stevens together is greater now that you’ve betrayed Vigor at Seasons Bleedings. As stated before, Stevens is your greater challenge and if Vigor is lurking...It seems you are in a terribly unfortunate situation, you might be wiped off this planet.
Mr Katz: How did I know you doubted me? Church mentioned the demons of my own creation, the various voices that plague my head. It seems "the demons" are the only one who don't doubt me, they know I have a plan. Listen I know that these guys are monsters but I already told everyone not to worry about me. Sometimes a battle you know you are going to lose, you still gotta fight it for the honor…..THAT’S NOT THE CASE WITH VIGOR! Vigor is inevitably going to kick my ass, it's going to be unbearable when it happens. I’m just not going to let Vigor kick my ass this week. One thing leads to another but one thing at a time. This week it’s about defeating Kai Stevens and avoiding Vigor, I’ll deal with Vigor later. Now if you excuse me, I’m going to go back to training.
Mr Katz leaves the hall and heads to the gym as the scene fades.
